DIY Fall Design Tips for Your Curb Appeal

Now that fall is here, it’s a great opportunity to prepare the outside of your home with fall decorations. Sprucing up your replacement windows and doors with some unique decorations can be a great way to begin the season and get in the mood for scarves, sweaters and pumpkin spice lattes.

Step up your curb appeal this year with these fun décor projects that are easy, unique and on-trend:

Project #1: Corn Husk Garland
This project will add fantastic curb appeal to your home’s windows or doors, depending on where you want to place the garland. Either way, all this project takes is a few simple steps: decide how long you want the rope (outlining your windows or door) with a few added inches to get a droopy effect, and attach corn husks to the rope with a hot glue gun. Put up your new garland to give prominence to your home access points!

Project #2: Door Wreath
Mirror the warm, fall colors and incorporate them into a DIY wreath to put on your door. The supply list includes a wooden stick wreath, burlap, artificial fall foliage, scissors and a glue gun. Here is the process: Cut the burlap into four 4x4-inch squares. Then, fold and glue the pieces of burlap throughout the wreath while gluing foliage by the burlap pieces.

Project #3: Welcome Sign
Creat an inviting feel to your home this fall with a blackboard “Welcome” or “Happy Fall” sign by your entry. Remind passersby what the season is really about and draw interest toward your festive fall entryway.

While preparing for fall with great DIY outdoor décor projects is a simple way to get into the season spirit, make sure to prepare your replacement doors and windows for the colder temps, too. They may look fantastic, but if your doors and windows are aged or unprepared for the approaching winter weather, they could let in cold drafts and leave you feeling chilly in the upcoming months.
